Important Message

Hello North Smithfield friends! Well, the numbers are in and we wanted to let everyone know that we raised $24,861.60 at the Wrights Farm fund-raiser. This is all profit!!!! All of this money has been deposited into the Scalzo Family Fund account and is earmarked to cover the family's future housing costs.

So you ask, what's next? Well, first of all we'd like to say thanks to every person who has helped thus far to make the Scalzo Family Fund committee a big success. It makes us proud to be residents of a community where people truly care about the needs of others and are willing to step forward and give of their time and resources to help those in need. So, please take a deep breath, pat yourself on the back and smile because you just did something terrific for a wonderful family in need.

Now for a big finish, we need everyone's help with the last big fund-raiser!!!! The yard sale date is set for Saturday, May 17th at OLQM Church in Woonsocket. That's the corner lot where the carnival is held each summer. We will have the banners ready later this week and plan to hang those in 3-4 strategic locations throughout town including the OLQM corner lot. We are collecting merchandise for this event and after 2 full weekends, we have filled our 1st 40' trailer at KD School. A 2nd trailer is being delivered this week in preparation for this weekend's donations. Newspaper stories and press will continue to take place announcing this yard sale and folks are pitching in to let people know that we need their STUFF to make this event successful.

Right now, we really need 15-20 volunteers this Saturday, May 3rd from 7:30 - 9:30 AM at KD School to price and re-pack all the things we've collected to date. We will have boxes there to pack the goods in once we price them. If we get 15 volunteers, the work will run smoothly and we'll be done by 9:30 AM!! We will even bring coffee and donuts, how's that for bribery? Please let us know if you can make it.

The plan for the yard sale is to deliver the trucks to the OLQM lot on Friday, May 16th. We'll need a LOT of volunteers for Saturday, May 17th to unload the trailers onto the yard sale lot. We're looking for 50 people willing to arrive that morning at 5:30 AM! I know it's early but think of the fun we'll have. I can guarantee you a lot of laughs and again we'll have coffee, donuts, juice, etc. Please do your best to help out with this event as it's the last of the big fund-raisers!!! Maybe you have a friend or neighbor you could bring along with you???

Thanks again to all of you and others for all the support you have shown thus far. We have accomplished so much in a short amount of time and now it's time to finish with a last big effort.

This is a shout out to ALL!!! This family NEEDS our help! They are in need of money to rebuild, and everyday items and furnishings.
